The Challenge
A national automobile insurance company retained Forward Observer to provide it with information and analytical insight related to the state regulation of collision repairs. The industry needed to counter arguments made by opposing interest groups who were supporting legislation to place high-quality, branded auto repair facilities at a competitive disadvantage relative to other providers of repair services.
The Solution
Forward Observer objectively evaluated the arguments and facts presented by the opposition and conducted an extensive nationwide search, both online and offline, of government documents and reports, trade publications, and general media.
We identified several potentially beneficial arguments the industry had not yet seen backed by supporting documentation -- and prepared messaging materials for internal use as well as written materials that could be shared with key legislative staff and other government officials.
For example, using information in the public domain, we were able to show that pay, benefits, and career paths in high-quality, branded auto repair facilities compared favorably to those in repair facilities that were sole proprietorships. The client used this information to rebut a key claim of the opposition that these branded facilities provided only low-wage jobs.
The Result
The client used Forward Observer’s insights and written products to inform and persuade key decision makers. The legislation failed to garner substantial support and did not pass.
